Principals Report
Dear everyone,
Over the past year, all in DECYP have been invited to share their opinions and thoughts about why we are together, how we will work together, what our belief is and what our common values are. Over 2500 children and young people and families, and over 3100 staff opinions were listened to. There were leadership workshops, and we examined evidence about what matters most in improving learning and wellbeing outcomes.
These thoughts and viewpoints have been united into a shared vision and integrated into the first DECYP Strategic Plan which reflects the new department.
We have all agreed that at DECYP, from before children are born to when they are grown, we are here to make sure every child and young person in Tasmania has a bright life and positive future. And we have a plan to make this happen.
And this is what it says:
- Why we are here: Bright Lives. Positive Futures.
- How we will work to achieve it: by making sure every child and young person is known, safe, well and learning.
- Our belief: The rights of children and young people are upheld in all that we do, particularly the right to an education, to influence decisions that affect them, and to be safe from harm.
- Our Values:
- Connection
- Courage
- Growth
- Respect
- Responsibility.
- Our foundations as a department: a valued and capable workforce; strong partnerships with children, young people, families and community; and focusing on continuous improvement informed by inquiry and evidence.
Working in schools is truly a great place to be, especially as we support our students in their achievement of a bright life and positive future.
Kind regards
Deirdre
