Principals Report
Dear All,
I would like to invite you all into the school on Thursday September 28 from 2:00 - 3:30pm for the Rosetta Student’s World of Learning Part 2 event. We heard your feedback – hence the day and the time change and we agreed with you that we needed to have another one.
Our classrooms and specialist areas will again be open throughout the school and ready to share the learning which has continued since our last event. Each Prep – Grade 6 class is sending home a work sample from the Science curriculum on Tuesday 19 September, and you are welcome to see more of the science they have done in the classroom along with their English and Maths. Students will demonstrate what they have learned so far this year and talk about how their classroom operates, you may engage in some of their learning with them.
Our student school leaders will be available to show you to the specialist areas where you might join in some karaoke, see the art displays and session or join in a game on the oval.
More details will be out soon along with an invitation from your child. It would be wonderful to see you there.
Kind regards
Deirdre

Swimming Carnival Grade 3-6
The annual swimming carnival is coming up soon on Tuesday 19 September . The carnival this year will return to a spectator event, and we encourage parents & carers to come and cheer on our students. We ask spectators to stay in the spectator area to ensure our carnival runs smoothly.
We are running our swimming carnival as 2 smaller carnivals again to encourage participation. The grade 3 and 4 carnival will be held first from 9:30am – 11:00am with students leaving school at 9:00am and returning before 12:00pm.
At 10:30am the grade 5 and 6 students will depart from school. At around 11:15am there will be a changeover at the pool where we will then commence our grade 5 and 6 carnival. This will conclude at 1:00pm. Students will return before 2:00pm.
We wish all students involved the best of luck!

Jump off Day Program

To celebrate all the great efforts the students have made contributing to the Jump Rope for Heart and the Heart Foundation we will be having our Jump off Day on Friday September 15 after lunch at 2:00pm -2:35pm.
Parents and spectators are welcome to watch the performance and join classes for some skipping to finish the day.
Kinder to Grade 2 Athletics Carnival
Due to the inclement weather and the poll that was completed in term 1 by families, our Kinder to Grade 2 Athletics Carnival will now be held in term 4. This Carnival will now be scheduled for Tuesday 31 October. The Carnival will start at 9:00am and finish at 11:00am
Students will be able to participate in events including Egg and spoon races, Sack races, Paddle ball challenges, Obstacle courses, relay races, an 80m running race and a 200m running race. There will also be a throwing event for students.
Rosetta House Captains and some Montrose High School Leaders will help with our Kinder to Grade 2 carnival.
We welcome spectators and supporters to our carnival but ask them to be respectful of the students and allow them to finish and stay with their classes.

Updates from the Arts Programme
At Rosetta, students across the lower and middle grades have been working studiously on a variety of projects during Term 3.
Students across the Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2 classes have been focusing on the elements of colour, shape and balance when designing their construction site pictures. Students utilised a variety of mediums in the process of producing their pictures, creating some wildly colourful work sites!
The students in our Grade 3 and Grade 4 classes have been working on producing compare and contrast landscapes. Their focus has been on investigating how we create contrast, what that might mean and how we can use visual representation to reflect our ideas.
We would also like to congratulate Evie, who is this week’s Student Artist of the Week. Well done Evie for your beautiful and colourful Symmetrical Insect!
As a final note, thank you to all the parents and carers who are working so wonderfully in exploring different artistic practices with our students at home.

E Team

Recently the E Team students noticed that students at the primary playgrounds were leaving their litter around the equipment. They have written and delivered a letter to Mrs Chick asking for a permanent bin to be placed at both playgrounds. Mrs Chick will meet with us when she returns from holiday.
Our fun fact this week is about living sustainably….
When we talk about living in a sustainable way, we are generally talking about developing ways to live that don’t harm the environment, or that cause the lowest possible impact on it. Living sustainably means that people try to manage their needs in a way that will allow future generations to do the same. Sustainable living means finding ways that we can make the planet’s resources last as long as possible, ideally forever.
Children’s University
All Children’s University passports need to be submitted for tallying by the end of Term 3, Friday 29 September. Activities from the holidays and Term 4 can be added towards 2024 Graduation.
Graduation is on either 14 or 15 November….confirmation asap.
STEM Challenge
Recently, 4 Smartbot students, Christopher, Nirjan, Felix and Damien created their own video game to enter an Australia wide STEM challenge. The boy’s entry passed through to the second round which was a wonderful result, however missed the final. Congratulations to all the boys on their hard work and commitment.
