From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Over the past three days, our school has participated in an External School Review, during which a panel consisting of two experienced principals led by an external review chairperson visited our school. Throughout the process, they met with a wide range of staff, students, and parents from our community, asking thoughtful questions about what we were doing well and where we can continue to grow.
It gives me great pleasure to share that the panel identified us as a high performing school. This is a tremendous acknowledgement of the hard work and dedication shown by our entire staff team, and I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to them.
I would also like to thank our parent/carer community for your ongoing support and the thoughtful feedback you provided during the review. Your input is valued and has helped shape a picture of our school that will guide the next cycle of our planning; a five-year journey that we are excited to begin.
The review gave us a meaningful opportunity to reflect on our work so far, celebrate our achievements, and set our sights on the future with energy and purpose.
Thank you once again for the time and thoughts you contributed.
Kind regards
Ms Arendt
Principal

National Tree Day 2025
Rosetta Primary School celebrated National Tree Day 2025 by working with some representatives from Sustainable Timbers Tasmania. Sarah Jane, Daniel, and Chris visited us today, Thursday 31 July and provided us with plants for our school grounds and some resources for the E-Team.
These plants were Tassie Natives Species – Lemon Bottlebrush, Mountain Bottlebrush, South Esk Pine, Oyster Bay Pine, Smoky Tee Tree, Autumn Tea Tree, Woolly Tea Tree, Shiny Tea Tree, and Scented Paper Bark.
The following students worked with the foresters and planted over 50 shrubs: Mary, Annabel G., Emily M. Esther, Jigme, Guransh, Ava L., Amann, Sabbatha, Ava S., Jayden, Amos, Zucco, Riley T., Felicity, Annabelle Z., Phoebe G., and Phoebe O.
A special Thanks to Mr Bryce Clark, our Grounds person who assisted us on the day and helped our event flow smoothly. We also appreciated his knowledge of the school grounds and his care of our plants.
Valuing our Tassie Forests Message from our visitors:
It’s our job to keep Tasmania’s much-loved forests healthy and growing well.
Forests are not only beautiful but also useful, providing the wood we need to make all sorts of things like furniture and homes.
Taking care of our forests is a big responsibility. We are committed to making Tasmania greener for future generations.
On Tree Day at Rosetta Primary our students have added a little greener to our world!

The theme of Science Week for this year is:
Decoding the Universe - exploring and understanding patterns in nature.
At Rosetta Primary, we will be focussing on the natural areas around our school with a Nature Hunt. Students will follow a set of clues to various locations around the school grounds and answer a focus question about that location.
A winning entry will be randomly chosen for Kinder/Prep, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and Parents. A small prize will be awarded on the day.
Quiz forms will be available from class teachers and the office from Monday 11 August.

Lunchtime Futsal Tournament
Currently in HPE students are beginning the Futsal tournament. This is a lunchtime tournament where students can elect to be a part of their classes Futsal team. We have 2 rosters running – the Grade 5/6 roster, and the Grade 3/4 roster. Classes will play against each other in games with points awarded to teams for wins, losses and draws. There will be a ladder and a finals series for each roster as well. There are also awards for Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Top Goal Scorer. These are voted on by the umpires.
This roster not only allows students to participate in the fun games of Futsal but also demonstrates other requirements that are needed for sports competitions and teams to be successful. Students have the opportunity to umpire, captain, coach, score and/or help manage their teams. This learning model is known as the Sports Education model and gives students an opportunity to be a part of a sport in many ways other than just playing. It encourages students to be a part of a team and culture and find something they enjoy that helps their teams out.
This Futsal roster has been running for over 5 years now and students are always very excited for it to begin. There will be some photos and more information to come as the roster gets underway.

E Team
Last week a group of E team students worked alongside Glenorchy City Council and Glenorchy Landcare members to begin a planting along the side of Jacques Creek which borders the right-hand border of the school.
Students were shown the recommended method of planting and protecting with plant guards and then worked in pairs to plant 40 grasses.
The group will be continuing to assist with this project over the next few weeks as the GCC work to protect the creek banks and return some of the indigenous plants to the area.
Students also began a clean-up of the creek and collected a large bag of plastic, bottles and even part of a swivel chair!!!
Our fun fact for this week is:
You can help make a difference! Why not think about joining a Landcare group?
Landcare have Individual, Associate and Community memberships and welcome new members at any time.
