Class Placements for 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
Class Placements for 2025
It is up to the time of year when we start to plan for 2025 classes.
Student placement in classes is a highly planned process with many considerations going into place ranging from educational, social and individual needs. Students and staff have an input and it is also important for you as parents to have an input on your child’s friendship group. Your input does help inform our planning around the organisation of student friendship allocation to class groups.
The time to make a request for 2025 is from 12-26 September 2024. We are providing two weeks for your input via letter or email. Once this time has ended, requests cannot be accommodated because of the complexity around class creations. Numerous hours of planning and discussion go into them and once they are compiled, late requests bring about considerable changes. All requests, by the due date, are carefully considered and there are times when we can accommodate them and there are times when we cannot.
If you would like to make a request for 2025 class placement, please send your written communication to the office by Friday 2 September or email me at deirdre.arendt@decyp.tas.gov.au
Kind regards,
Deirdre
Student Parliament Report
Hello everyone
This is the update from the Student Parliament:
We are holding a competition to design a letterhead for the Student Parliament. This is open to all students at Rosetta Primary. The letterhead could involve a symbol or drawing that represents the Student Parliament. The competition opens on the 9 September and closes on the 23 September at 3:00pm.
We are organising volunteers from grade 4 to 6, to assist younger students with skipping in the playground at lunchtime. The Jump Rope for Heart Jump Off on Friday the 13 September, it’s time to practice.
Plover Season
Plovers are nesting on our ovals, and they protect their babies by swooping. We are planning to film a clip to educate students about plovers and their nesting behaviours'.
Congratulations Mrs. Lenthal
Mrs Lenthal was nominated for the ABC radio Book Week Boss competition. As a school community we appreciate all her efforts during Book Week, every year. The Book Week parade, assemblies, colouring competitions and book prizes are enjoyed by all students.
Thank you!

Once again, classrooms will be open for families and carers to come and see what students have been working on, chat with teachers and learn more about what has been happening around the school in Term 3.
There will be a range of activities around the school that guests can engage with, including yoga with Ms Baric, skipping with Mr Johnstone, a musical performance from our Brass Band students with Mr Reade as well as a Poetry Showcase and much more. Swimming Carnival Grade 3-6
Our annual swimming carnival is on next Tuesday 17 September. Spectators are welcome to attend, and we encourage parents & carers to come and cheer on our students. We ask spectators to stay in the spectator area to ensure our carnival runs smoothly.
We are running our swimming carnival as 2 smaller carnivals again to encourage participation. The Grade 5/6 carnival will be held first from 9:30am – 11:15am with students leaving school at 9:00am and returning before 12:00pm. Grade 6 band students will be dropped at MyState arena on the way back to school. Any House Captains that are not in band will remain at the pool to assist with the Grade 3/4 carnival.
At 10:30am the Grade 3 and 4 students will depart from school. At around 11:15am there will be a
changeover at the pool where we will then commence our 3/4 carnival. This will conclude at 1pm.
Students will return before 2:00pm.
We wish all students involved the best of luck!

The 2024 School Satisfaction Survey is open!
Every year the Department for Education, Children and Young People conducts a School Satisfaction Survey to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school improvement planning and decision-making.
If you have not had the opportunity to complete the survey about Rosetta Primary School yet, it is open until Friday 20 September 2024 and should take about 5 minutes of your time. Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).
Take the online survey by clicking the survey link below.
The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential. All families in this school received the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department for Education, Children and Young People staff.
Please contact the office if you require any assistance. Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.

Excursion
Dear Parents and Guardians
On Wednesday 25 September, 5-6A will be attending Government House for an excursion to deepen our understanding about Australia’s political structure.
Students will be touring the grounds and house, harvesting and planting vegetables, as well as cooking with fresh produce from the garden. There may also be an opportunity to meet with the Governor.
We will be leaving school at 9:40am and returning by 2:00pm.
As morning tea and lunch are provided, students will not be required to bring their own food for the day. Please advise the school office of specific dietary requirements by Wednesday 18 September so Government House can be notified.
Thank you.

LIL and pre-kinder families are welcome to attend. We do ask for a parent or guardian to remain with these students however all other grades parents can drop and go or stay if you wish.
Further information will be out in the coming weeks!

Arts Program
As part of an extracurricular opportunity within the Rosetta Primary Arts Program, a group of students across grades 3-6 have volunteered their own lunch breaks to work on a large-scale banner. The banner was an opportunity won by the Arts Program at Rosetta Primary, allowing students to have work displayed for The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery's (TMAG) Lift Off Children's Festival.
Our vibrant and amazing banner, designed and created by our students, celebrates their interpretation of the brief 'To the Max'. We are excited to say our wonderful banner will be on display out the front of TMAG at the beginning of October. Drive past if you get the opportunity, our students have worked so hard on this fabulous artwork.
