Student Parliament Report
Hello Everyone,
This is the new update from the Student Parliament.
We would like to remind everyone that this Thursday the 4 July we are raising funds for the Down Syndrome Organisation. You can make a gold coin donation to participate on the day. Students from the subcommittees will be visiting classrooms from 9:00am to collect donations.
This is a Free Dress and Pyjama Day but please remember that hoods and hoodies are not to be worn during school time.
At the School Parliament meeting last Thursday, we talked about a Mural Project which Mr Dobransky is helping us with. He has a daughter called Romy in 1A. There will be more details coming soon and a voting process to choose the design. This is an exciting time for our school to be able to have a mural using our ideas and working with an artist and our whole school.
We are also working on a Sandpit Project and some of our members attended the School Association meeting last week. At this meeting we were looking to gain support from the School Association to help us with our project. We have been exploring designs and how to fundraise for this and especially how to apply for some public grants to support our project. We would really like to have a shelter over the sandpit so we are thinking about how that can work.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing everyone supporting The Down Syndrome Fundraiser this week.

Swimming and Water Safety Program (SWSP)
Grade 3 to 5 and some Grade 6 students are commencing our annual Swimming and Water Safety Program (SWSP) in week 3 of term 3 on Monday, 5 August and continuing through until Friday 16 August.
The SWSP will again be held at Collegiate Pool throughout the day and are offering close to an hour of swimming instruction for each group in the pool. Students learn swimming strokes, water safety and water orientation skills to ensure they are comfortable in water environments.
There are 4 groups participating, with the times for classes as follows:
Classes | Depart School | Lesson Start | Depart | Return to School |
3A + 5/6C | 9:15am | 9:45am | 10:45am | 11:15am |
4A + 5/6A | 10:15am | 10:45am | 11:45am | 12:15pm |
5/6B + 4/5 | 11:15am | 11:45am | 12:45pm | 1:15pm |
5/6D + 3/4 | 12:15pm | 12:45pm | 1:45pm | 2:15pm |
This program is well regarded, and students have a great time learning lots of new, safe water skills. It is expected that all students attend the SWSP in Grades 3, 4 and 5. Collegiate pool staff allow parents to come and watch on the second Friday of the program. Any spectators are asked to watch the swimming from the mezzanine area above the pool.
We hope all students enjoy this year’s program.
If you have any questions about the program, you are invited to ring 62081200.
Thanks,
Jack Johnstone

E Team
Last week the E Team students met with Ms Arendt, Mrs Chick and Mr Clark at the planned site of our Bush Tucker Garden.
We have a smaller group of students who are looking into costing some of the materials we will need to create the garden.
We will be seeking advice on the best indigenous plants for our area.
Our fun fact this week is...
If you are interested in creating a Bush Tucker Garden, take care to research your plants as some indigenous plants can be poisonous!!!

Melbourne Mavericks visit
Last Friday some of our Rosetta Primary students were treated to a visit from 2 players from the Melbourne Mavericks who compete in the Suncorp Super Netball competition.
Lauren Moore and Sasha Glasgow spoke to a number of grade 4 and 5 students who then participated in a skills clinic.
We would like to thank the players very much for their time and effort.
You can see a feature article about the visit in the Mercury Newspaper on Saturday 29 June 2024.
