Principal’s Report
Dear Parents and Carers, every school day matters 😊
Start Term 2 by making every school day count!
Going to school every day gives your child every chance to learn and grow, and connect with their friends and everyone in the school community. It’s where bright futures start and where they’ll benefit the most.
When your child goes to school every day, it helps them to:
- learn better
- find interests
- make and maintain friends
- be happier
- have a brighter future.
We have many exciting learning opportunities happening in literacy, maths and all the other subject areas in classes this term. We also have the cross country carnival, winter sports and assemblies.
If you’re struggling to get your child to school, help is available. Please talk to us at school about your situation. We’ll support you, in whatever way we can.
Why Turning Up Matters……
Every school day matters. Even just missing one day a fortnight can mean your child misses up a year and half of their education, between Kindergarten and Year 12.
What happens when your child misses just….
- 1 day a week. That equals 40 days per year. [Eight weeks per year]
- Therefore from kinder to year 12, that is nearly 2 1/2 years of school. This means the best they can achieve is equal to finishing year 10.
- Two days a week. That equals 80 days per year. [16 weeks per year]
- Therefore from kinder to year 12, that is nearly five years of learning missed. This means the best they can achieve is equal to finishing Year 7.
- Three days a week. That equals 120 days per year. [24 weeks per year]
- therefore, from kinder to year 12, that is nearly eight years of learning missed. This means the best they can achieve is equal to finishing year 6.

If you have a question or would like to talk to us please contact our office team on 62081200 and a time to meet will be happily arranged.
Kind regards

Sign up with your work email (mygo1.com) - This requirement also includes parents transporting other students to school events (e.g.Champions Carnival). This requirement is supplementary to Working with Vulnerable People Cards. All requirements need to be sighted at school.
- We thank you for your understanding and support. Watch out for the dates where we will be having training sessions for the 13-minute video – Volunteers and Service Providers Safeguarding. A certificate will be issued on completion and valid until 31 December 2024.

Special Persons’ Day Stall
Thursday 9 May, the School Association will be holding their annual Special Persons’ Day Stall to coincide with Mothers’ Day.
All students will have the opportunity to attend with their class to purchase a gift for their special person if they wish.
Gifts generally range from $1 to $10, with a limit of two gifts per student.
We suggest students bring a bag and something soft to wrap and secure their gift in, along with their money in a named zip lock bag or like (cash only sorry).
Money raised assists with the ongoing programs that the School Association supports each year, including the Breakfast Club and Growing Up Program.
